The hard answer
Two years that rhyme are still closer to anecdote than data.
Read articleOwner-led businesses get compliance from their accountant and quiet from everyone else. The work I do closes that gap, bringing tax, cash, and reporting into one read so the next decision has actual information behind it.
I came up advising serial entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, sitting next to founders who were trying to make payroll, raise the next round, and hit a product milestone in the same week. Limited runway teaches you what financial leadership actually has to do for an owner. Through my practice, O’Rourke CPAs, I bring that operating experience to Bay Area and Lake Tahoe owners doing $1M to $10M who need a real financial partner, not another quarterly report.
I got the start-up bug young. A landscaping route, a door-to-door sales company, even a travel agency before the degrees came. Decades and dozens of entrepreneurs later, after seeing both failure and tremendous success up close, the through-line is the same: owners who decide with information compound, and I built this practice to put that information in their hands. Here is the shape of an engagement.
I start with a structured read of the business: books, reporting, cash position, tax posture. Within a few weeks I can tell you, with specifics, what is working financially and what needs attention first.
From there I build the financial machinery the company has been missing. A rolling forecast tied to how you actually book revenue, a monthly dashboard you can read at a glance, and a tax plan that anticipates the year instead of reacting to it.
Once the system is in place I stay. I meet with you on a monthly cadence, I am reachable when a real decision lands midweek, and I own the financial side of outcomes alongside you. The relationship is open-ended, not a finite project.
When you bring me into the business, you bring a finance peer into the room. I am present for the hire, the price change, the lease decision, the conversation with the bank. The numbers and the judgment travel together, on your side of the conversation. Day to day, the cadence is steady and the access is real.

Perspectives from business owners after working with their fractional CFO.
Without Dave, I don’t know if we’d have made it. When he introduced us to the Scale B.O.S.S. the lights went on, and we never worried about how we spent our time. The result was amazing productivity inside a scalable rocket ship. Thank God for Dave!
We were running blind. We had no sense of KPIs, or how to understand what the numbers our accountant was sending us. Once we had Scale B.O.S.S. running, every meeting had a new purpose and a clear focus. We went from a struggling start up to an eight figure exit.
We enjoyed a good deal of success, but we struggled with understanding exactly where our companies were in their growth phase. With Dave’s amazing guidance, we were able to build out bespoke KPI dashboards, and the rest is history.
